    Lighting Artist (Mid / Junior)

    Jellyfish Animation are looking for a Junior / Mid level Lighting Artist for a pre-school TV series that is being produced for the BBC.

    This roles is suited to someone with some previous experience on a full CG series. Additional tasks will include breaking down shots into passes and AOVs, setting up the lighting based on the look defined by the master-shots. The Lighting Artist works under the supervision of the CG Supervisor and to the creative brief as set by the Creative Lead.

    Requirements:
    • A strong understanding of Lighting and screen composition, in a story telling environment.
    • 1 – 2+ years as a Lighting Artist.
    • Full production knowledge of Maya, Redshift, Nuke.
    • Practical working knowledge of Passes, AOVs and render management.

    Desirable:
    • Experience in pipeline scripting and creating tools for the pipe
    • Working knowledge of Arnold, VRAY
    • Showreel essential

    The role is based in Oval, South London.

    Recruitment Coordinator

    Working closely with the HR Manager to coordinate recruitment needs across all Jellyfish studios.  You will be responsible for sourcing suitable candidates, advertising available roles, collating CVs and reels, arranging and conducting interviews and managing new starter paperwork.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct phone, Skype and/or in-person interviews
    • Consult with Producers, Production Managers and HoDs to identify staff requirements
    • Prepare new starter paperwork ensuring all successful candidates meet right to work legislation
    • Represent Jellyfish at job fairs and career events
    • Write and post job descriptions on job websites and company pages (e.g HR database and LinkedIn page)

    Essential skills required:

    • Excellent communication skills
    • Excellent organisational skills
    • Experience with recruiting for the Animation and VFX Industries
    • Good at administration, always willing to learn and able to follow instructions from the producers, production managers and HoDs
    • Have a proactive approach to problem solving
    • Proficient at using Microsoft office – Word, Outlook, and excellent at using Excel
    • Team player
    • To be comfortable communicating with interview candidates and giving feedback in a constructive and positive manner

    Desirable skills:

    • Familiarity with LinkedIn Company pages
    • Familiarity with Shotgun
    • Familiarity with WordPress
    • Knowledge of Animation and VFX workflow

    Start date: July 2017

    Lighting Lead

    Jellyfish Animation are looking for a Lighting Lead for a pre-school TV series that is being produced for the BBC. The role begins with setting up the initial look and feel of the show and then goes on to leading the team throughout series production.

    This is a senior role, suited for someone with previous experience as a lead on a full CG series. Ideally the candidate will also have previous look development experience. Additional roles will include breaking down shots into passes and AOVs, rebuilding the shots in Comp, setting up master-shots and templates for junior artists and working with art director to translate the conceptual look of the shot to screen.

    Requirements:

    • A strong understanding of Lighting and screen composition, in a story telling environment.

    • 2-3 years experience as a Lead Lighting Artist or 6 years experience as a Lighting TD.

    • Full production knowledge of Maya, Redshift, Nuke

    • Previous experience in shot look development

    • Practical working knowledge of Passes, AOVs and render management.

    Desirable:

    • Experience in pipeline scripting and creating tools for the pipe

    Character Animators (minimum 2 – 3 years exp)

    Jellyfish Animation are looking for Character Animators for Holiday Cover to work across two series of animation: Dennis & Gnasher and Bitz & Bob.

    Jellyfish would love to hear from talented Character Animators, with at least 2 -3 years’ experience. You will need to be hard working, well versed in the skills of character animation and have a willingness and enthusiasm to learn and produce great work quickly. You must be experienced in Maya and have an ability to work across a variety of character animation styles. This is a fantastic opportunity to build upon your character animation experience in a fast paced highly creative environment working with two great teams on exciting projects. The posts will be based in South London at both Jellyfish Animation studios (Oval and Brixton).

    We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who can adapt quickly to various animation styles and new rigs.

    Varied contract lengths and varied start dates available.  Please state your availability when applying and specify what contract length you’re interested in.

    You may be required to complete an animation test.
